Following the announcement that there will be no funding for pork-barrel projects in appropriations legislation this Congress, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, a long-time advocate for ending the practice of earmarking, made the following statement.

"This is a big victory for earmark reform. The American people are frustrated with the way Congress spends money. Today's announcement that there will be no earmarks this Congress is a great step towards making some of the hard choices we need to get our fiscal house in order."
