Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) today issued the following statement after being selected to serve on both the Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition, and the Internet, and the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security of the House Committee on the Judiciary for the 112th Congress:
"I am honored to be named to these two important subcommittees for the 112th Congress. I look forward to working with my colleagues to stop the theft of American intellectual property and reform patent laws to promote and protect American ingenuity.
"As a former prosecutor, I look forward to working with my colleagues to help protect American families from drug traffickers and other criminals, while conducting vigorous oversight of our homeland security apparatus to protect us from terrorist attacks."
The Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition, and the Internet has jurisdiction over matters related to copyright, patent, trademark law, information technology, and antitrust law.
The Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security has jurisdiction over the Federal Criminal Code, drug enforcement, sentencing, parole and pardons, internal and homeland security, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, prisons, and criminal law enforcement.
