Rep. Michael Pompeo (KS-04), a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee, today voted in favor of repealing Obamacare in the U.S. House of Representatives. The repeal passed on a vote of 245 to 189. It is now up to the Senate to consider the measure. Congressman Pompeo released the following statement:
"Since the previous Democrat Majority rammed Obamacare through Congress last year, more and more Americans have come to see what Republicans have pointed out all along -- Obamacare is a budget-busting, job-destroying, and unconstitutional piece of legislation. Regardless of these glaring flaws, tone-deaf Democrats in the US Senate and the White House vow they will continue to block the repeal of their "hallmark' legislation -- defying the will of a majority of the American people.
"I was sent to Washington by the voters in the Fourth District of Kansas to effect change. It's now time to show, once again, that the Republicans elected to the People's House will listen to the will of the voters who entrusted us to represent them. By voting to repeal Obamacare today, and as we replace Obamacare with patient friendly reforms to fix health care in the weeks ahead, I hereby re-affirm my commitment to work to undo the damage caused by an arrogant and unchecked Democrat Majority. Together we will continue to work toward the return of a smaller, smarter and more efficient Government," stated Pompeo.
