Missouri's 4th Congressional District is home to two major military installations - Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee I am committed to working hard to ensure that these facilities remain vital components of our national defense.
I was sworn into office just days after dozens of homes at Fort Leonard Wood had been damaged or destroyed by a tornado that touched down at the post. Fortunately, no one was killed or seriously injured. I was proud of the way our men and women in uniform at Fort Leonard Wood came together to begin the task of restoring the post. They were joined by the good citizens of neighboring communities and counties.
In meetings with post commanders I pledged to do everything possible to see that Fort Leonard Wood receives the federal help it needs for complete restoration. Our brave men and women deserve nothing less.
