Statement of Rep. Frank LoBiondo on President Bush's State of the Union Address

"President Bush's speech reflected the optimism of the nation arising from the progress being made on the challenges that face America. He reasserted the positive results of removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and the strong message that action sent to America's foes and our friends around the globe. Having visited Iraq myself late last year, I have seen first hand what the return of hope and the chance for a better future have done for the Iraqi people and I believe we are on the right track."

"Creating jobs and increasing economic opportunity across Southern New Jersey have been a priority for me since coming to Washington. Workers need new skills to find good jobs in today's tech-driven economy and assistance to help them acquire these new skills is important. I will look very closely at the President's proposal to help workers acquire the skills necessary to fill those new jobs."

"Finally, I agree with President Bush's observation that our nation has retained the spirit of community which arose after the terror attacks of September 11th. This spirit is alive and well in Southern New Jersey and is being demonstrated by a wide range of local groups involved in the partnerships for progress that I work with regularly."
