Issue Position: Child and Sexual Predator Elimination

Issue Position

Our nation's greatest asset is our children. Protecting them from those in the United States and around the world that mean them harm must take priority over all other objectives.

Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have supported measures to protect America's children from predators. I have voted in favor of tougher penalties for offenders, and I have worked to provide additional funding to support the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, child advocacy programs, and outreach centers. I founded and serve as co-Chairman for the Senate Caucus on Missing, Exploited and Runaway Children, and I brought together major corporations and leaders of industry to form the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography.

As Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, I will continue to work with my colleagues to annually fund the programs created by the passage of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 (Public Law 109-248), which track and arrest unregistered child predators and prevent these heinous crimes from being committed. During the 112th Congress, I will continue to fight to make this a safer country for our children.
