U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-05) made the following statement after news that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others were shot at an event in Tucson, AZ this morning.
"Gabby Giffords is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She's humble, friendly, capable, and down-to-earth, even though she's married to an astronaut. I always worried about her husband, Captain Mark Kelly, when he was up in space or piloting a Navy plane; it turned out that the real threat was in Arizona."
"There is no finer person than Gabby Giffords. Please pray for her and all the other victims of the shooting."
