Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) released the following statement today following the attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others in Arizona today.

"I'm deeply saddened by today's tragic events in Arizona. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is a true public servant and a dear, unassuming friend. She is open and accessible and dedicated to the people she serves. My thoughts and prayers are with Gabby, her family, staff and all the victims affected by this senseless act of violence."
