Sullivan Slams FCC on Net Neutrality

Statement

Date: Dec. 21, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman John Sullivan issued the following statement on the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) decision to regulate the Internet by imposing "net neutrality" policies without Congressional oversight.

"The federal government has already taken over banks, the auto industry and our healthcare system --today's net neutrality ruling by FCC makes it clear this Administration intends to add the internet to the list. This is just another example of heavy handed, one size fits all big government mandates being crammed down the throats of the American people whether they want it or not. The internet is not just a vital tool and source of information -- it's the preferred means of information for millions of Americans. I believe the FCC is overstepping its bounds by issuing new job killing internet regulations without the consent of Congress. As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee leadership team, I look forward to working with Chairman Fred Upton to push for more accountability and strict oversight of the FCC in the 112th Congress."
