Congressman Ben Quayle (R-AZ) released the following statement Wednesday following passage of HR 2, a bill that would repeal Obamacare.
"House Republicans voted to repeal Obamacare because it is unconstitutional, it raises costs for patients and employers and it fundamentally alters the doctor-patient relationship by inviting the government into the examining room. The most immediate reason for today's vote, however, is the negative impact Obamacare has had and will continue to have on our economy. Without repeal, Obamacare will add enormous amounts of debt to our already unsustainable national deficits, and it will impose more than $500 billion in new taxes in the first decade alone. America's health care system absolutely needs smart reforms, but Obamacare is not a remedy and it is not the right course to getting there. Today's vote shows that House Republicans are listening to the constituents who elected us; it's now up to Leader Reid to do the same by bringing the repeal vote before the Senate for an up-or-down vote."
