"As a member of this committee, I have the ability to promotelegislation that will improve economic development in the 7th Congressional District and throughout the State of Alabama. This includes introducing legislation in emerging scientific industries, encouraging the creation of public-private partnerships and investing in education and workforce development. Scientific advancement is one of the keys to U.S. competitiveness in a global marketplace, and this committee assignment will produce innovative opportunities for the advancement of science, technology and education as we move in to the future."

"I am pleased to have Congresswoman Sewell join the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology," said Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), Ranking Member on the Committee on Science and Technology.
