U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-8) today released the following statement in reaction to the U.S. Department of Labor's report that the U.S. economy added 103,000 jobs in December 2010 bringing the unemployment rate to its lowest level in 19 months.
"All of the constant Republican rhetoric against health care reform cannot dispute the results -- people are getting back to work. The proof is in the pudding. The country created 103,000 jobs last month, with about 36,000 jobs being added to the healthcare industry itself, so this notion of health reform being a "job killer' is just more partisan noise," said Pascrell, who wrote key provisions of the health insurance reform legislation as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. "It is my hope that my Republican friends in Congress stop wasting our time with an ill-fated repeal effort that would cost the nation trillions in debt, and join us in working to keep this economy moving forward."
