Menendez Statement on Martin Luther King Day

Statement

Date: Jan. 17, 2011
Location: Newark, NJ

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) released the following statement on the commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

"As we celebrate and reflect upon the life's work of Dr. King on this day, we should re-commit to live by his teachings each day. In the wake of the tragic shooting in Arizona, Dr. King's message of non-violent, civil discourse is particularly poignant. It was a message that helped guarantee equality for all in our nation, and it is a message that will help bridge differences that may exist today in our society. Let us be thankful for Dr. King's life and legacy, and let us continue to honor him in our daily lives."
