U.S. Rep. Jeff Landry (Republican, New Iberia) was sworn in today to the 112th Congress pledging to work for job creation, fiscal responsibility, and a smaller government.
Rep. Landry said, "Taking the oath of office today reaffirms my commitment to the great people of South Louisiana and our country. I am determined to work as hard as I can to provide economic recovery, end wasteful spending, and reduce the size of the federal government."
Rep. Landry, a member of the powerful Natural Resources and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees, said that he was excited to be a part of the largest GOP freshmen class since 1921 and a voter for newly-elected Speaker John Boehner.
"I am eager to begin the people's work. Americans spoke loudly in November that they wanted a smaller, more efficient, and more transparent government; I will fight to give them that," said Rep. Landry. "My fellow Republicans and I will work to improve the economy, reduce the federal deficit, and limit the size of federal government."
