Perlmutter Votes No On Tax Package

Press Release

Date: Dec. 17, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Thursday evening the House passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 4853 -- Middle Class Tax Relief Act of 2010. Perlmutter stated, "I appreciate the President's work to ensure tax relief for the hardworking people in the middle. There were many good things in the bill, but I voted against this bill because our country cannot afford more unfunded giveaways to millionaires and billionaires."

"The bill negotiated between President Obama and Senate Republicans extends expiring unfunded Bush-era tax cuts for the top two percent of income earners in order to also extend much needed tax relief to middle income earners, small businesses and provide critical unemployment benefits for thousands of Coloradans looking for work.

"I support and voted repeatedly to extend tax relief for middle income earners, families and small businesses, as well as to extend unemployment benefits and extend estate tax relief. I simply believed extending tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires was too expensive for our country."
