Bono Mack Opposes Largest Tax Hike in American History

Statement

Date: Dec. 16, 2010

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) released the following statement upon voting to prevent the largest tax hike in American history:

"I voted to prevent a job-killing tax increase on all Americans that would go into effect on Jan. 1, unless Congress acted. While I would prefer a straight up or down vote on extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, making them permanent and paying for them with spending cuts, that is not an option at this time. Waiting until next year to try and get a better deal would cause serious damage to our economy and impose a tax increase of $1,540 on the average American family.

"In the 112th Congress I am committed to keep fighting to permanently end the threat of job-killing tax hikes and stop the spending binge in Washington immediately--Washington does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem."
