Issue Position: Second Amendment

I am an ardent supporter for an individual's right to keep and bear firearms. Throughout my time in public office I have consistently opposed legislation which would restrict this freedom and I intend to continue doing so in the future.

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution explicitly lays out the right for all Americans to keep and bear arms. Many of the measures proposed in the name of gun control are based upon the theory that gun owners are not law-abiding citizens. The truth remains, however, that the vast majority of gun owners are model citizens simply exercising their constitutional rights.

This is why I not only oppose legislation infringing the right to bear arms, but am also a proud cosponsor of H.R. 197, H.R. 1048, and H.R. 2296, three bills to protect the rights of gun owners. I will continue to uphold the Second Amendment during my tenure in Congress.
