Bono Mack: Wrong Policies Severely Hinder Economic Recovery

Statement

In response to the Department of Labor reporting that the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in November, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) released the following statement:

"For 16 straight months now our nation has endured a jobless rate topping 9.5 percent, and still the Obama Administration and the Democrat majority in Congress push job-killing tax hikes and bigger government policies. Just this week, Congress was forced to vote on a measure that would result in a massive tax increase for many American families and small-business owners and the FCC proposed imposing suffocating regulations on the Internet--taking away opportunities for innovation and job creation. It's becoming very clear that this Administration's ability to create jobs is a simple no they can't."

"Congress and the White House are severely hindering the economic recovery of the nation and it shows in today's unemployment report. Instead of pushing big-government solutions to the many challenges facing our nation, we must focus on policies that support job-growth through the private sector, reduce government spending, lower taxes and address our crushing national debt. I call on President Obama and the lame-duck majority in Congress to take the appropriate actions and vote to stop all looming tax hikes and begin cutting spending immediately."
