Issue Position

Protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare are a concern of mine. Recent reports by the Social Security Board of Trustees show sharp declines in revenue for both programs and even closer dates for insolvency. The need for reform is quite evident. We need to consider what role Social Security and Medicare will play in our future and the long-term financial problems faced by the programs. Since these programs affect millions of current and future retirees, I expect that Congress will carefully proceed while it looks at all the ways to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
