The future of America lies in our youth. From enacting sound legislation to speaking to young people from across Georgia and our great Nation, I have made education a top priority throughout my career.
The competition for the leaders, innovators and workers of tomorrow is no longer across town, it is now around the world. To best prepare the students of today for the challenges of tomorrow, we must provide a well-rounded education. The challenge we face is finding a balance between testing accountability and curriculum viability.
States and local governments have a better understanding of the demographics, unique challenges, and rate of improvement for individual school systems. When it comes to a child's education, decisions should be left to those who know best how to make them: parents, local school districts, and states. I have supported and will continue to support education legislation, like the A-PLUS Act, that gives power back to states allowing them to implement initiatives that each state individually develops to best meet the unique needs of their particular students.
As with any other issue of concern to you, I hope you'll take the time to let me know how you feel about this issue.
