Jimmy has always worked to have high quality and good paying industries locate in SC and whenever possible to District #80. Even when Jimmy was at Lower Richland High School in the "60s, he served on the committee to bring Square D (now Sneider Electric) to our area. He was instrumental in SYSCO setting up a division off Garners Ferry Road, Industrial Park off Pineview, Union Camp (now International Paper) in Eastover. When Charleston was working to get Boeing Manufacturing Plant in Charleston with 3800 jobs, Jimmy was supportive. Presently he is working to create additional jobs at McEntire Air National Guards by having McEntire to bring the F -35 jets to Eastover. He has secured funds to build 2 recreation centers (Garners Ferry Center and Crossroad Center) which will provide construction jobs to build them and some jobs to maintain them. He has, also, secured funds to perform an environmental study, design, (in progress now) and to construct the widening of Leesburg Road (probably 2012) which will not only create jobs but will make a safer road for citizens.
