Issues: Drugs Immigration
Drug and human trafficking are always important issues for us in South Florida. Our district contains over 265 miles of pristine Florida coastline, a border that must be defended from narcotrafficking.
* I voted in favor of the Integrated Deepwater Program Reform Act, legislation aimed at modernizing the Coast Guard fleet. Determined drug smugglers are using very sophisticated ships and technologies. Therefore, we must ensure that our brave Coast Guard men and women have the tools they need to effectively patrol our coasts.
* Working with my colleagues in the South Florida delegation, I have brought much-needed federal funding to Miami International Airport for increased screening and security capabilities.
