Issue Position: Health Care

Issue Position

The United States has always had the greatest health care system in the world. As a physician for over 30 years; I know the importance of quality health care. Unfortunately rising costs have left upwards of 44 million Americans uninsured and even more underinsured. The solution can be reached by controlling the costs. In this way, not only can we improve the access of coverage, but the quality of care as well.

Quality health care reform can only be reached through a bipartisan effort. Democrats and Republicans must come together in an effort to create clearly defined, left accountable, and reduces fraud and abuse. This requires the measure to be fiscally responsible, preserve a patient's choice of provider, and maintain competition in the market place.

Although we still have the best healthcare system in the world, part of it is broken. As a member on the House Committee on Small Business, I have seen firsthand the damage done to those businesses by Healthcare costs. Only through fiscal reform can we change our system, and increase affordable access to Americans.
