Appropriations Committee Approves $12.7 Million for 177th
New Funds Will Be Used to Construct Fighter Alert Complex and Shelters
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-2) announced today that the House Appropriations Committee approved a total of $12.7 million for the 177th Fighter Wing based in Egg Harbor Township at the Atlantic City International Airport. The funds for the 177th were authorized by the full House on May 20 in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2005. This new action by the House Appropriations Committee is a significant step that makes actual funds available for these important projects. The bill now awaits consideration by the full House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
"I am pleased that these new funds have been approved for the 177th," said Rep. LoBiondo. "This is an important next step in the legislative process. These funds are especially significant for New Jersey because this was a lean year for Military Construction (MilCon) projects."
