Statement

Date: Oct. 19, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Today. U.S. Rep. Travis Childers (MS-01) spoke at the Holly Springs Industrial Park Loop opening and participated in the ribbon cutting. This project was funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to complete the base and paving phase.

"The Recovery Act's investments provided the necessary funds to complete the Holly Springs Access Road," said Congressman Childers. "These significant funds provide further evidence of the Recovery Act's immediate steps to implement important, ready-to-go transportation projects that created and saved jobs and gave much-needed business to contractors and construction companies in the First District."

Today's ribbon cutting represents years of cooperation between federal, state, and local governments to obtain the necessary funds to complete the 4-mile North Holly Springs Industrial Park Access Road. This project will become part of Mississippi's Highway System as the Highway 7/4 By-Pass and will be maintained by MDOT.

Under the Recovery Act, the MDOT has received $33 million to allocate toward ready-to-go transportation projects in the First District.
