Education Funding Formula
For the first time since 1991, Rhode Island can join the rest of the country in announcing the implementation of an Education Funding Formula. With the passage of the formula, Rhode Island's children stand to benefit from a fair and transparent funding process for their education. The implementation of a funding formula will also greatly help Rhode Island's Department of Education's chances in their quest for Race to the Top Federal Funding. East Providence and Pawtucket alone will be taking in an additional $11 million in state funding over the course of the next 10 years. For far too long, Rhode Island has dragged its feet in establishing an educational tool that the rest of the country has readily embraced. That time is over and finally our children can receive the educational funding that they deserve.
