Regulating Inflatable Equipment
Senator Sieben sponsored legislation to regulate the commercial use of inflatable play equipment at permanent facilities. Many Minnesota children, including the son of Jennifer Rosenberger from South St. Paul, have been seriously hurt while playing on this inflatable equipment. After hearing Jennifer's heartbreaking story, Senator Sieben and Representative Karla Bigham advanced legislation to provide parents with the peace of mind to know that their kids are safe when jumping at jumping centers. The new law requires that a trained person supervise the use of the inflatable equipment, provide protection from falls, the equipment is insured, and that the business be registered with the Department of Labor and Industry. Senator Sieben is hopeful that this will prevent future injuries.
Gift Card Protections
Senator Sieben sponsored and passed a bill to regulate gift cards by prohibiting expiration dates and service fees. The law ensures that consumers get what they pay for when they buy a gift card and that the value is not lost without their knowledge.
