Abortion continues to be one of the most difficult and divisive issues our leaders face. I have always been pro-life. Over the course of many years and much prayer, I have learned that abortion is not just Roe v. Wade, nor is it Pro-Life activists versus Pro-Abortion activists.
There are many groups affected by abortion, but three of these need our support the most.
Unborn children are the most innocent and helpless people. We must be their voice and protect their right to be born.
Women facing an unplanned pregnancy need our understanding and care. They also need information about their health and the baby they are carrying. During my time as a Birthright volunteer, I was able to serve these women face-to-face. Each faces a different struggle, but they all need us to help them. They need us to provide them the assistance they do not find else where.
Women who have experienced abortion need our compassion and support. Abortion ends the life of a child, but it also changes the life of the mother forever. Women in every walk of life carry with them the memory of their abortion. They need us to listen and understand.
Changing the future of abortion is not just the responsibility of our elected leaders. You can be confident of my votes to protect the innocent of every age. I have the highest praise for those who do not wait for government action, but work every day to protect the unborn, support pregnant mothers, and comfort those who have lost a child through abortion.
