Senator Mary Olson has been an advocate for K-12 teachers and building projects at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College. Mary's leadership has ensured fair, stable funding and the fiscal discipline during economically difficult times resulting in quality education opportunities for our children. She has authored and co-authored legislation for new teachers (SF 1328), stabilizing the funding structure (SF2110), and protecting the pensions of teachers (SF 1521). Mary has been a strong advocate for K-12 and Higher Education funding during a time when republican leadership has been cutting funding and reducing learning opportunities, both of which have resulted in increased local property taxes. The growing disparity between property-rich suburban school districts and struggling rural Minnesota schools is taking Minnesota in the wrong direction; Mary will continue to work on our behalf to fix this disparity.
