As a former police officer and police chief, Jim has kept our community safe for over 40 years. As police chief, Senator Robey instituted new and innovative practices to keep crime levels low even as the County's population grew rapidly.
Jim has worked across party lines in the Senate to protect our families. He worked with members of both parties to pass a comprehensive gang law to give prosecutors the tools they need to crack down on escalating gang violence in Maryland. He voted for the Safe Schools Act of 2010, which will improve coordination between school and law enforcement officials to keep students safe. He also worked to overhaul Maryland's sexual predator laws, voting for lifetime supervision and longer mandatory minimum prison sentences for those who prey on children.
