As a member of the powerful Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, Senator Stone plays a key role in crafting laws to keep our community safe. He fought for Megan's Law, which required the State to create a registry of sexual predators. During the current term, he has sponsored and supported successful legislation to protect children from sex offenders, increase penalties for possession of child pornography, limit the release of violent offenders, and crack down on street gangs.
Senator Stone fought for the passage of numerous laws to keep our roads safer. In 2009, he sponsored the Delegate John Arnick Electronic Communications Traffic Safety Act, which prohibited the practice of texting while driving. He also worked to pass bills to crack down on repeat drunk drivers, and to ensure teen drivers are safe.
