The Attorney General is an avid hunter and sportsman. He was taught at an early age the values and traditions that make Wisconsin's outdoors an important part of our culture and heritage.
J.B. is a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment Rights, which he is sworn to protect as our Attorney General.
Here are some highlights during JB's term:
* Issued a memorandum to law enforcement clarifying Wisconsin's open carry law.
* Gained approval from legislature to file amicus curiae briefs in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases of McDonald v. City of Chicago and District of Columbia v. Heller, to protect Wisconsin citizens' Second Amendment rights.
* Under the Law Enforcement Safety Act, Attorney General Van Hollen has issued over a dozen concealed carry permits to retired DOJ agents.
* In 2009, Attorney General Van Hollen and 22 other Attorneys General signed a letter to US Attorney General Holder asking him to maintain the current semi-automatic gun control laws.
