Issue Position: Cap & Trade

Issue Position

Louisiana is an energy state, where over 320,000 people depend on the energy industry for their livelihoods. Bill Cassidy believes domestic energy production should be encouraged, not punished. He co-authored the American Energy Act to create jobs and grow the economy by removing barriers to domestic energy production, cutting burdensome regulations, and expanding America's refining capacity.

Bill Cassidy helped lead the fight in Congress to oppose Cap & Trade, an $894 billion energy tax that would drive up gas and electricity prices, harm the economy, kill jobs, and lead to greater dependence on foreign sources of energy.
