This week, Rep. Frank Kratovil introduced legislation to strengthen Community Health Centers, which provide critical services to many rural communities, including those across Maryland's First Congressional District.
If passed, the bill will allow state Medicaid agencies to make payments directly to community health centers, allowing them to benefit from the health IT incentives as Congress intended. As a result, predominantly low-income and under-served populations will receive more effective and efficient health services.
"Community Health Centers play an important role in keeping rural communities healthy," said Rep. Kratovil. "My bill will support the critical, life saving work of these centers and help ensure that families in places like the Eastern Shore receive the best health services possible."
