I strongly believe in and support the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees us the right to keep and bear arms. In 2008, the National Rifle Association endorsed me as their candidate in the Indiana Second Congressional District election because of my proven voting record on Second Amendment issues.
In Congress, I have supported many pieces of legislation that support Americans' right to bear arms. For example, I support a bill that would enact common-sense changes to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in order to improve the system of administrative penalties that sometimes inflict unfair punishments on well-meaning licensed dealers, manufacturers, and importers who make simple paperwork errors. Also, I support legislation that would require states to recognize each other's concealed weapons licenses and permits because I think that Americans should have the right to defend themselves regardless of where they live.
