My top priority is to rebuild our economy and invest in a strong economic foundation for our future. After eight years of failed leadership and a lack of oversight under the Bush Administration, we are taking action to ensure that our government works for middle class and working Americans -- not just the wealthy and connected. Specifically, I voted to pass legislation that gave 95% of American workers a tax cut, set the foundation for rebuilding America's road, rail and water infrastructure, banned unfair credit card abuses, passed a budget blueprint that will cut the Bush deficit by nearly two-thirds over 4 years, and created a system that created incentives for lenders and homeowners to avoid foreclosure.
