Our current immigration system is broken. That is why I support comprehensive immigration reform. We can balance enacting tough laws with the need for businesses to hire legal seasonal help. My position on this important issue is straightforward:
* Secure America's borders -- this includes enhancing barriers on our borders and ports and utilizing technology where appropriate;
* Enforce existing laws in the workplace -- this requires cracking down on the organized crime element and human trafficking and penalizing employers who break the law by hiring undocumented workers;
* Streamline and modernize the visa process -- farms and small businesses that need temporary workers should be able to hire seasonal help legally and efficiently;
* Establish a path to citizenship -- people who have not committed any crimes, are paying taxes, are learning English and want to become citizens can start at the back of the line but should be allowed a path to legal residency and citizenship.
