U.S. Senator Jim Bunning issued the following statement opposing the Continuing Resolution that will be voted on by the Senate tonight.
"Once again Congress has failed to complete its work on time. Instead of staying in town to finish the job we were hired by the American people to do, we find ourselves passing a continuing resolution to keep the government running until December while Democrats rush out of town to beg the voters for forgiveness for their failed policies. Not to mention the fact that the Majority still has not done anything to address the massive tax hikes that families and small businesses will be facing come January because of our failure to act. The American people deserve better.
"The excessive spending in this continuing resolution is irresponsible and the fact that we can't even pass something as simple as a budget is unacceptable. As a result of this broken process, we are passing a bill tonight that will only exacerbate the problems we face from our already out-of-control national debt. I cannot and will not support this continuing resolution that will saddle our children and grandchildren with more debt."
