I have spent a great deal of time listening to Iowan's opinions about, and concerns with, healthcare and taking that information to craft solutions. A common theme in almost every discussion centers on cost and accessibility. Iowa families are concerned with rapidly increasing healthcare costs and the options available to them. They have made it clear that their top health care priority is lower health insurance premiums and lower health care costs without threatening their own access to health care.

Not one provision located in the thousands of pages of the new health care law will lower premiums or costs by a single penny. Instead this massive government takeover of health care imposes new taxes, fees and iron-fisted federal mandates on health care providers, employers and citizens during the most uncertain economic times in a generation. I opposed, and voted against, this legislation because Americans wanted, and deserved, better from their leaders in Washington.

I am fighting to repeal this new health care law that increases costs of coverage, kills jobs, raises taxes, threatens seniors' access to care and will cause millions of Americans to lose the coverage they have and like and replace it with better solutions.

I am fighting for solutions like the legislation I wrote and introduced that would eliminate disparities in health care access for rural citizens and make quality health care more convenient and affordable for small business owners and their employees, seniors, veterans and members of the National Guard. We need solutions that will lower health care costs, empower patients, and provide a health care safety net for the most vulnerable in our society without dragging down the health care quality, access and choices of all Americans.
