Stabenow Fights for Legislation to Stop Shipping Jobs Overseas

Statement

Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) made the following statement regarding her effort to pass legislation to create American jobs. The Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act created incentives for businesses to bring jobs back to America and eliminated tax loopholes that encourage companies to ship jobs overseas.

"For too long, we have had policies in place that create the wrong kind of incentives and encourage businesses to ship jobs overseas. The bill before us today would stop the incentives to ship jobs overseas, and instead create new incentives to bring jobs back, and make things in America again. If we don't make things and grow things in America, we will never rebuild our middle class in our country."

"I am deeply disappointed that we did not have the votes to overcome a filibuster and proceed to this jobs bill, but I will continue fighting to create jobs in Michigan."

-U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow
