LeMieux Receives Congress Tax Fighter Award

U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today received the National Tax Limitation Committee's (NTLC) 111th Congress Tax Fighter Award. The NTLC is a leading national association promoting the values of limited government, reduced government spending, and low tax rates.

LeMieux was recognized for his consistent voting record to help secure reductions in government spending, reduction of entitlement programs, and the need to extend the 2001 and 2003 tax relief.

NTLC President Lewis K. Uhler made the following comments when presenting the award to Senator LeMieux in Washington.

"Senator LeMieux's votes on tax and spending issues in the 111th Congress earned him an "A' grade and the Tax Fighter Award. He has led the battle on behalf of taxpayers to stop the passage of ObamaCare and cap-and-trade legislation, to make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, to eliminate the death tax, to kill the Alternative Minimum Tax, to provide incentives for private savings, investment and job creation and to control the growth of federal spending. He has shown courage in challenging the orthodoxy of Washington spending and earmarks".

"Raising taxes during this difficult economic time will spell disaster for millions of small businesses throughout the country. Where is the initiative to try and put Americans back to work?" LeMieux said. "Congress should be focused on measures like cutting payroll taxes to allow small businesses to expand and hire more workers. Instead, we continue to pass massive bureaucratic legislation that is not only is freezing job creation, but increasing our already unsustainable debt."
