Griffin: The most basic job of Congress is to pass a budget

Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today issued the following statement regarding the adjournment of Congress until after the November election with no action on tax relief for Americans and no budget as the fiscal year ends today:

"In its haste to run home, Congress has left uncertainty in its wake -- uncertainty over whether Americans will see their tax relief extended and uncertainty over runaway government spending as there is no federal budget for the fiscal year. The most basic job of Congress is to pass a budget. Leaving town before doing their job shows disrespect to the taxpayers. We must change the culture in Congress by electing common sense leadership that will get our fiscal house in order and let the private sector create sustainable jobs for our workers."
