Our country continues to face national security threats and challenges around the world. The U.S. military is and will continue to be a force for good in the world, and I will continue to ensure that our troops have the time and resources they need to win in Iraq and Afghanistan . It is imperative that the U.S. keeps terrorists off U.S. soil, and that Guantanamo detainees are not sent to countries where they can easily rejoin the fight against our service members. As the Ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, I am constantly reminded about he tremendous challenges presented to us in the long war against terrorism, at home and abroad. I believe terrorists should not be read their Miranda rights, nor be identified as "foreign soldiers" with equal rights to American troops or afforded he privileges U.S. citizens are granted under the U.S. Constitution.
The U.S. must support our allies and hold our adversaries accountable for their actions and defend against rogue states with nuclear ambitions, such as Iran and North Korea . America must defend itself from a position of strength, not weakness and keep all options on the table to protect our homeland from attack. I remain committed to providing our brave military personnel, and their families, the support they have earned and deserve.
