Herseth Sandlin Receives Congressional Leadership Award For Work On Behalf Of Veterans
Today, U.S. Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin received the Veterans Entrepreneurship Task Force (VET-Force) Congressional Leadership Award for her "outstanding and continued support of efforts to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans."
As Chairwoman of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity, Rep. Herseth Sandlin prioritizes the employment needs and challenges faced by veterans. She has held a series of hearings on a range of veterans employment issues, including translating military skills to the civilian employment market and improving federal contractor compliance with regulations regarding veteran-owned small businesses.
In addition, Rep. Herseth Sandlin has advanced several important legislative initiatives through the House of Representatives, including legislation to improve the Department of Veterans' Affairs monitoring of veteran-owned businesses and a bill to improve the employment services available for veterans through the Department of Labor
