U.S. Sen. David Vitter yesterday told attendees of the Veterans Action Coalition rally via conference call that he is helping to expedite the establishment of an expanded Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Lafayette.
"This has been a painfully slow process for veterans in Acadiana, but I'm confident that we're finally moving forward and seeing some real progress toward the ultimate goal," said Vitter. "After I spoke yesterday with VA officials and urged them to expedite their work, they assured me that they would be moving forward with the highest sense of urgency. I'm going to follow through on this until the end to ensure that veterans in Acadiana have access to the highest standards of care."
For several months, Vitter has worked with VA and local officials as well as members of the Veterans Action Coalition to coordinate efforts to find a suitable site for an expanded Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Lafayette.
