In many of my conversations with superintendents and school board members, the one thing that kept coming up was 4x4 curriculum and the need for local flexibility. This is another thing the Texas Legislature got right. School districts and students need to have flexibility in the 4 years of math and science requirements to prepare our kids for either college or the workforce, whichever path their family chooses. Our employers are constantly telling us they need high school graduates ready to enter the workforce. Flexibility in the 4x4 curriculum is a step in the right direction. Now our local school boards and superintendents can tailor their curriculum to meet the needs of their school children.
