Remembering September 11th

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2010

Today, we pause to recognize the bravery and heroism of all of the first responders; local, state and national leaders; and caring citizens who made selfless sacrifices to help the victims of September 11th. Without thought of their own safety and without the slightest hesitation, in true American form, these courageous men and women showed uncommon courage to save the lives of many.

We pause to say a prayer for the families and friends of everyone who perished during the attacks. We honor their legacies by remembering their contributions to this great nation. We take comfort in the fact that we are a strong nation. Let us not forget the freedoms that we have and always accept personal responsibility for defending our freedoms in keeping with our values, never bowing to the dictates of outside forces.

Again, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims. We honor them today and will continue to keep them in our hearts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Joyce Elliott
