Acting Governor Maldonado Issues Statement on Catastrophic San Bruno Fire

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the explosion that occurred last night in the County of San Mateo. I want the residents to know that the state is doing everything in its power to get recovery resources into their hands as quickly as possible. The health and welfare of their families and the safety of their homes are my primary concern.Many people's lives were forever changed yesterday evening, and each of them have my deepest sympathies.

I will continue to be in close contact with the California Emergency Management Agency as they move forward with their investigation into the causes of the explosion that endangered too many lives. I applaud both state and local first responders for their swift actions to save lives and protect the community from further damage.
