U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today made the following statement in remembrance of the victims lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"As Americans gather to pay tribute to those we lost on September 11, let us remember them as patriots who are loved by their country. We also honor the bravery and courage of the firemen, police, and many others who risked and lost their lives in the immediate aftermath of the horrific attacks.

"Let us also remember those who answered their country's call to service in the weeks, months and years following the attacks. They answered the call on behalf of a grateful nation.

"Nine years later, we remain vigilant as our men and women in uniform, preserve, protect and defend our freedoms. Let us continue to seek peace, maintain strength, and stand by our allies as we thwart the threat of terrorism."
