U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today made the following statement to mark Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
"Today at sundown marks the beginning of a new year for people of the Jewish faith. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated as a time to recommit to prayer and reflect on the blessings of creation. It is a chance to rededicate one's self to healing old divisions and embracing new understandings.
"In these trying times, this is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our friends and family, and all who have helped us in some positive way to become who we are.
"Meike and I send our best wishes for a blessed Rosh Hashanah."
